How to Tint Raptor Spray-On Liner

How to Tint RLT/S4

Difficulty: Easy

Raptor’s spray-on liner is a tough protective coating that can be applied to metal, wood, plastic, concrete, fiberglass, and filler. In this tutorial, we’re going to be looking at how to tint this liner to get the perfect colour for your truck bed or wherever you have decided to apply it. On any suitable substrate this coating is resistant to water and UV and has general durability against rust, corrosion and stains.

Safety

Before you begin, we recommend the use of PPE, including nitrile gloves, protective goggles and a ventilator mask when using this spray on liner.

Step 1: Preparing to Tint

Using a measuring cup, measure out 237ml of hardener and pour directly into the RAPTOR coating bottle. Replace the lid and shake vigorously for 2 minutes.

If you need a different volume of liner than the pre-measured volumes, use a 3:1 ratio of coating:hardener. So, for example, if you want 1000ml of liner in total, use 777ml of coating and 223ml of hardener.

Pour this solution into a mixing cup. If required add thinner as needed and stir.

Step 2: Tinting

For best results use a solvent-based toner. Do not use a waterbased system to tint.

Measure out 48ml of your toner and add it to your mixing cup. Stir with a measuring stick. If you want a brighter colour, add up to 48ml more toner and stir again. Do not add more than 95ml.

If you used a different volume than pre-measured, start with a toner volume equal to 5% of the liner’s volume. So, for example, if you have made 1000ml of liner in total, start with 50ml. To alter the colour, continue to add toner up to 10% of your total volume. Do not add more than 10%. In this example, you could add up to 100ml total of toner.

Pour this mixture back into the coating bottle and shake vigorously for at least two minutes.

Now your spray on liner should be ready for you to line your truck bed.
