How to Use Isopon’s Plastic Bumper Repair Kit

Using Isopon’s Plastic Bumper Repair Kit to Repair Damage to Your Bumper

Isopon's Alloy Wheel Repair Kit

Damage to your bumper is one of the most common offenders when it comes to imperfections on your car’s exterior. Even the smallest scratches and scuffs can have an effect on the integrity of your bumpers. Thankfully, the Isopon Plastic Bumper Repair Kit helps to fix these little imperfections and make your car look brand new.

Step 1: Preparing your Surface

In order for the filler to be able to stick to the surface, the surface needs to be clean. Taking a microfibre cloth, you should wipe down the paint to remove any loose paint particles. Then, wash it with a good car cleaner to remove any dirt, grease or wax.

As well as this, you need to have about an inch of abrasion around your area. If the area is already scratched, you don't need to worry, but if it's smooth you may need to take some sandpaper and lightly sand around it.

Step 2: Applying the Filler

Before you handle any filler, you should wear protective gloves.

Before you apply the filler you need to mix it with the hardener, however, the great thing about this kit is that the filler comes pre-measured. Squeeze out one of the filler packets onto a mixing board and a half-inch line of hardener next to it. Using the provided applicator to combine them until you create a mixture with a uniform colour.

Immediately after, apply the filler to your affected area. If you don't apply it within four minutes of mixing, the mixture will dry out and become unusable. The area should be completely covered and slightly elevated from the surrounding surface. Allow this to dry for 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 3: Sanding the Area

After the filler is dry, use coarse sandpaper to remove any excess filler and shape it to the bumper. Next, wrap a very fine grit wetordry paper around a sanding block. While spraying generous amounts of water, sand down the filler until it is smooth and blends evenly with the surrounding area.

Now, your surface is ready to prime and paint.
